A River In The Desert
We will all walk through deserts in life. Lonely, thirsty, and with burned feet. The key is to not die here. We must learn from the desert plants and dig deep into our true living source within.
According to Mark A. Dimmitt, Director of Natural History at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, “Succulent plants store water in fleshy leaves, stems or roots…succulents must be able to maintain their water hoards in a desiccating environment and use it as efficiently as possible.” We should take note and learn to steward are living source efficiently if we are going to make it through the desert.
Something so beautiful to me is the image of a river in the desert. A life-saving river. In Isaiah 43:19 it says, “…I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” I love this promise because when we are walking through our deserts…even a small crow flying above can look like a massive beast when it casts its shadow below for our tired eyes to see. Its cry echos throughout the wasteland scaring us…if only we knew it was just a crow! Oh, but the sight of a river. That is what the Lord offers to us and all we need to do is jump in.
In our desert storms, there is a river. Beautiful woman, dig deep within yourself. Pull upon your life source and let your eyes be opened to the river in the desert.
The river is for you.
