Deodorant Snob

Ladies, it is time to get picky and start putting in the extra dollars for your deodorants. The standard deodorant brands are just not cutting it! They are full of harmful artificial ingredients and have got to hit the road. Some of the gross ingredients found in deodorant are aluminum and parabens. According to cancer.gov, parabens have been found in breast tumors.

Aluminum has been shown to cause Alzheimer’s disease, yikes. Patients suffering from kidney disease typically store a lot of aluminum in their bodies. According to the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry, workers who breathe large amounts can have lung problems and changes. Also, if you have young children it is even more important for them to use safe deodorant as they are at a greater risk of health issues if the aluminum travels to the stomach.

Just think, deodorants are something that we apply to our bodies every single day, sometimes twice a day or more. There are many lymph nodes in the armpits as well. Sometimes the FDA-certified pesticide called Triclosan can also be found in your little deodorizer devils.

Proctor & Gamble, the parent company of Old Spice was in a class-action lawsuit when their product gave customers chemical burns and rashes…oh my! Yet, what do they do? They still insist that their products are completely safe of course. I often wonder why it is so hard to get humans to provide safe products for other humans. Why can’t we all care about one another?

Speaking of rashes…one of the common mistakes made when switching to a natural deodorant is buying the first ones you see at your local Whole Foods. These deodorants are typically made with baking soda as the deodorizer. Ouch, itchy, and uncomfortable are the words that come to mind. If you are a magical angel baby maybe this will not happen to you but if you’re like the rest of us - baking soda will most likely cause skin irritation. Opt for one that is baking-soda free and live a smooth and rosy lifestyle.

My favorite baking-soda free deodorant is megababe. I’ve post a link to it below. Thank me later! :)

Or, if you are the make it yourself type…

1/2 cup arrowroot powder

1/2 cup coconut oil

10-20 drops of an antibacterial essential oil (tea tree or lavender)

10 drops of your favorite essential oil

The Old Spice Deodorant Rash Class Action Lawsuits are Gregory Johnson V. Procter & Gamble, Case No. 3:16-cv-02302 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and Colley. v. Procter & Gamble Co., Case No. 2:16-cv-00225-MHW-KAJ, in the U.S. District Court of Southern Ohio.
